In the coming weeks we’ll be hard at work transforming a former sportswear store into a working Manufacturing & Robotics Fab Lab.  The transformation is already under way: A forest of shelving has been thinned, work stations arranged and youth robotics fields are being set up.  A variety of interested individuals and organizations have been dropping by to see where there might be synergy between their work and ours, and a steadfast crew of volunteers is cleaning, painting and designing.

Two scheduled events are already on the AMRoC Fab Lab calendar for this winter – an ARM Institute Regional Workshop in January and a FIRST Robotics Competition scrimmage in February, both providing opportunities to test different ways to configure and use the Fab Lab for professional level programming and youth programming.

Other work underway:

  • Securing a comprehensive array of tools and equipment
  • Partner and Sponsor recognition
  • AMRoC Fab Lab Handbook
  • Membership platform
  • Programming schedule
  • Facilities use scheduling
  • Special events

When we formally open our doors in late spring/early summer 2019, it’s our goal to have an inviting, multifunctional, educational and productive space for all to enjoy and from which to benefit for many years to come.   There are lots of ways to help out, from contributing during #GivingTuesday to donating supplies or equipment from our Amazon Wish List or our gently used equipment list.

If you want to pitch in as a volunteer during our build out phase, have donations or wabt to help teach or mentor later on, get in touch via our Contact page.
