We’re (mostly) settled in our new home now, and gearing back up to spend the rest of the summer doing things we love – like flying drones, building robots, exploring Big Ideas for small businesses, innovating and inventing!

Summer Programming
July 30 – 3 pm – Smash Brothers Tournament at Stryke Esports – Strkye Esports is an incubator company housed in AMRoC Fab Lab, that’s part of the FCDI Equity-in-Entrepreneurship program. They’re launching their new company with a summer Smash Brothers Tournament. Check it out and register to attend HERE.
August 5 – 6 pm – First Friday at the Fab Lab: Meet our Enterpreneurs! This year, our Equity-in -Enterpreneurship program looks a little different. We’ve broken the program into three distinct segments to better meet entrepreneurs where they are, and with our larger space, we’re also able to provide incubator support. For our August First Friday show, we’ll meet Stryke Esports, the gaming company we’re incubating, as well as a couple of our other program participants, to learn about their businesses and what they hope to achieve in the EE program. August 11 – 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm – Uptown Metaverse Meetup – Curious about actual applications of the metaverse? Want to be part of a community metaverse project? Join us on the 2nd Thursday of each month for the Uptown Tampa Metaverse Meetup. RSVP to [email protected]
August 12 & 26 – Open Make – 3 pm to 7 pm – If you’re interested in working on a project or refining build and design skills RSVP in advance via the AMRoC Open Make Reservation Form.
August 27 – Uptown Tampa Meetup – 6 pm – Join us every 4th Saturday to talk about everything Uptown! Hear the latest on redevelopment plans, meet local residents and small businesses, and guest speakers, and help us build a resilient, informed, and connected Uptown Community! RSVP here. Please note: There is just one more meetup this year – on September 24, after which there are date conflicts with our big ROBOTICON event in October, and then holiday dates after that.
Every Wednesday in August – Big Idea Brew Club – 6 pm to 7:30 pm – Register at Equinent.org to be part of this opportunity to explore turning your side hustle or an idea you’ve been thinking about, into a viable small business by discovering if your idea is really marketable. Every Thursday in August – Uptown Tampa Youth Drone Club Meetup – 6 pm to 7:30 pm – Youth ages 12+ are invited to be part of the Uptown Tampa Youth Drone Club. Students in the Club will also be able to be part of the Aerial Drone Competition starting up later in the fall. Email [email protected] to register.
August 9 & 23 – Uptown Tampa Drones Meetup – 6pm to 7:30pm – Drone playtime is back! BYOD (Bring Your Own Drone) and join us the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month for this microdrone fly-in!
August 24 – STEM Educators PlayDate – Join us on the 4th Wednesday of each month join us for Teachers PlayDate, starting at 4 pm. There’s no charge for this guided and open play for educators, who can explore hands-on STEM experiences like building with LEGOs, 3D printing, programming, robotics, drones, CAD, electronics projects & more! August 24 – Tampa Bay Inventors Council Meeting – 6 pm to 8 pm – Network, connect and learn about inventing and taking your innovations to market . Speakers discuss issues from patenting to packaging and all the steps in between having a great idea and taking it to market. Visit Tampa Bay Inventors Council to learn more and register to attend.

Youth STEM Competitions
There are student team member opportunities on our early elementary, middle, and high school youth robotics teams, on our new Aerial Drone Competition teams and in our new lightweight combat robotics program. Visit our Youth Robotics page to learn more and register!
Our 2nd Annual Young Innovators Challenge kicked off this month, in partnership with the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, Florida High Tech Corridor and Scoutlier. Open to youth ages 13+, you can learn more and register your team HERE.

Professional fees benefit youth programs, in addition to solving your work challenges. The team is currently working on technology solutions for marine, communications, and aerospace projects, and welcomes the opportunity to explore creative solutions to your business challenges, as well!
